The mother of all flowers... the sunshine. :)

This Saturday is due to be beautiful... temperature in the upper 60s, sunny... as much as I'd like to start painting the hallway bathroom, I think it is time to do some outside work. At Grandma Wallace's memorial in November, we were all given Mammoth Sunflower seeds to plant in her memory. This Saturday will be their day!

I plan to plant them along the back of the fence line. They will get all the sunlight they need and will face the back of the house so we can enjoy their beauty from the comfort of our screened in porch. Who wouldn't want to wake up to the beauty of these beasts? They grow up to 10 feet tall and I can't wait to watch them grow!

I also intend on digging up the flower bed in the front yard that is up at the street. It's currently filled with daffodills, ugly yucka bushes, and weeds. The daffodiles are lovely, but they are overwhelmed and honestly, I want variety in the flower bed... not just a whole mess of yellow. I'm not really sure what I will plant there... possibly just a whole bunch of wild flowers that I can trust will return next year.

I can't wait to plant my sunshine. :)

Baby, it's Springtime!

Spring is *finally* here. I feel like it has been cold for forever now. Glenn and I have noticed our trees are blooming and the flower bed up by the road actually has living things in it. All winter it looked like a pile of nothing... I'm proud to say it is full of daffodills already bloomed and more are on the way.
Spring brings on a whole list of new house things to accomplish.
While I still have some painting to do inside the house, I'm very eager to get to the painting outside the house. Our front porch is looking very sad with chipped paint everywhere. The screen in porch hasn't been painted at all! I plan to change that. :) Glenn and I also noticed that from the road, it still looks like no one lives in this house. The cars are always inside the garage and there is nothing on the porch. It's finally time to get some plants to hang, a bird feeder so the cats have something to do during the day (watch the birds, not attack them), and one of those huge bamboo wind chimes from Black Lion. Notice I'm dreaming here...

On top of those things, I intend on gardening for the first time. I want a mini veggie garden. Of course I can think of 9759348758567 things that I'd like to grow, but I am going to narrow it down to 3-5 veggies and a separate herb garden. Glenn isn't looking forward to it at all, but he'll get over it. ;)
